What is a VIN?
A Vehicle Identification Number is a unique 17-character code stamped on every car since 1981. It encodes the manufacturer, model year, plant of origin, engine, body style and a unique serial. You'll find it on the dashboard near the windshield, on the driver's door jamb, on the registration document or on the insurance policy.
